about Robear

In the beginning, there was Robear: the central figure of every piece, an “Everybear” who chimes into the spirit of everyone who meets him. Echoing our own world, every meticulously created Robear is unique in shape, size and color yet at the core we and he are inescapably alike.   

Stacks of sketch filled notebooks, a whimsical imagination and nearly ten years of tireless work has brought Robear’s world to ours through the imagination and artistry of Robert Desbiens. Each piece originates as if out of nowhere and becomes a drawing to work out an architectural plan.

 

Through the potter’s wheel, carving, sculpting, shaping and glazing and a lot of love and attention, each piece is brought to life.

Woody natural environments and cheery colors mark the unique style of Robears. Every piece is created to be used, combining utilitarian function with exceptional artistic execution: tea pots create unique Robear worlds ranging from Space Exploration to Meditation. Bookends transport you into a Robear literary realm, a Holy Cresh connects the sacred with all the beings of the forested animal world and Chanukah takes Robear climbing out on a limb of his tree branched Menorah.

Robear is, well, just Robear: short in stature (2” to 2-1/4” high standing) but massive in the footprints of love and joy he leaves behind. His days are spent hanging out on the side of mugs, serving tea and cookies, and bringing light to darkness. Whether your Robears creation is used daily or preciously, you’ll say “Hello” and smile every time Robear’s deep gaze catches your eye.

Robear Ware is decorative, functional pottery. It is microwave and dishwasher safe, though hand washing is recommended. All Robear Ware is Funware but not a toy. With careful use,

children of every age can share Robear's sense of curiosity and wonder for a lifetime.

 

Robears are hand made with high-fire stoneware clay, finished with food safe, lead-free glazes and will last a lifetime with careful use. They can withstand high heats and are microwave and dishwasher safe. Electrical parts in lamps and night lights are assembled with UL listed parts.
